Meet Therapist Emilie Watson

My name is Emilie and I'm a counsellor who lives and works in the beautiful Brecon Beacons, South Wales. Abergavenny is a gorgeous little market town and I've lived here for nearly 5 years.

I retrained as a counsellor after being a musician, piano teacher and community choir leader for almost 10 years in the South East of England. I saw the therapeutic impact of music and wanted to take this element further. I chose to complete a degree in Counselling and Therapeutic Practice at the wonderful University of South Wales where I'm soon to begin lecturing in Creative Counselling Methods.

My main focus is supporting clients with non-time limited therapy through my Private Practice, The Calm Place however, I have enjoyed working with Mind in Merthyr Tydfill and other charities in the area.

I work with a range of mental health issues including trauma, anxiety, depression and PTSD. Working withchronic illness and women with a late or suspected diagnosis of ADHD/AuDHD is of specific interest due to my own experiences in this area. I'm also qualified to support younger clients and am passionate about supporting teenagers/young adults with their mental health.

I work Integratively which means I have training in different types of therapy. I also work pluralistically which means we can work together to decide which of those different types of therapy you need, when, and what your goals are. And all of this can be as flexible as you want, week to week. You are in the driving seat.
