  • What actually happens in therapy?

Therapy is simply a space for you to talk openly about what’s been going on. I'll listen, ask gentle questions, and help you make sense of your thoughts and feelings. We may use different materials to help us, especially if you'd like to work creatively.

  • How much does each session cost?

In-person sessions cost £60 per hour and online sessions cost £50 per hour.

  • How long does each session last?

Each session is 60 minutes long.

  • What kind of issues can you help me with?

I support people with all kinds of different issues. CLICK HERE for a full list. But if your still not sure or need help with something I've not listed, get in touch to see if I can help you.

  • Can I contact you between sessions if I need help?

Only if you need to reschedule or cancel a session. If you need mental health support between sessions you should contact your GP or NHS 111. There are some good resources available online and I've put together a few - CLICK HERE.

  • Can I follow you on social media?

You are welcome to follow me on social media but due to ethical reasons I am not able to follow you. I may not always respond to messages sent via social media. The best way to get in touch is via email. For my social media links, CLICK HERE.

  • How do I know if I need therapy?

If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or just not yourself, therapy can help. You don’t have to wait for things to feel unbearable before reaching out.

  • What if I don’t know what to talk about?

That’s perfectly fine! I'm  skilled at helping you explore what’s on your mind, even if you’re not sure where to start.

  • How long does therapy take to work?

Everyone’s different. Some people notice changes after a few sessions, while for others it takes longer. Progress can be gradual — and that’s okay.

  • Is therapy confidential?

Yes, what you share is private. The only exception is if there’s a serious risk of harm to you or someone else, or if a court requests my notes. I will go through everything and explain this clearly to you at the start of our work together.

  • What’s the difference between counselling and therapy?

The terms are interchangeable and it's usually the preference of the practitionaer as to which they prefer. I use both terms.

  • Can therapy make me feel worse before I feel better?

Sometimes, yes. Talking about difficult things can bring up strong emotions, but that’s a normal part of healing and growth.

  • What if I don’t click with my therapist?

The relationship is key. If it doesn’t feel like I'm the right fit, it’s absolutely fine to try someone else - just let me know. Finding the right person matters and I want you to get the right help and support for you.

  • How often do I need to go?

Most people start with weekly or bi-weekly sessions, but it depends on your needs and what feels right for you.

  • Do I have to talk about my past?

Not necessarily. Sometimes you may want to focus on the present, sometimes you may want to explore how your past affects your current life. You’re always in control because you are the expert on your experiences.

  • Can I bring notes or things I’ve written?

Of course! Bringing notes, letters, or journals can help you express yourself and make sense of what’s been happening.

  • Will my therapist judge me?

No — therapy is a judgement-free zone. I'm there to listen, support, and help you understand yourself better.

  • What if I cry or can’t find the words?

That’s completely okay. Therapy is a safe space, and emotions are welcome. We'll work through it together.

  • Can therapy help with anxiety or depression?

Yes. Therapy helps you understand your thoughts and feelings, develop coping strategies, and start to feel more in control.

  • What types of therapy are there?

There are many approaches, but you can CLICK HERE to find out about the specific approaches I am trained to work with.

  • Do I have to take medication too?

Not unless you want to. Some people combine therapy with medication, while others prefer therapy alone — it’s entirely your choice.

  • What if I can’t afford therapy?

There are low-cost and community counselling options available, but I may be able to offer a reduced rate. Please ask.

  • Can I do therapy online?

Yes! I also work online. Online therapy is just as effective as in-person sessions and can be more flexible for busy schedules. You will need access to a quiet confidential space, the appropriate equipment and a stable, fast internet connection.

  • What if I don’t feel “bad enough” for therapy?

You don’t need to be in crisis. Therapy is for anyone who wants to feel better, understand themselves, or make positive changes.

  • How will I know if therapy is working?

You might notice you’re coping better, thinking more clearly, or feeling lighter. Change can be gradual — but it’s often deeply meaningful.
